Location

Taobh-an-Allt's setting just inside the gateway to the Highlands makes it an ideal location both for getting to, with easy access from Glasgow, Edinburgh and the South, and for getting from, with Inveraray, Stirling, Glencoe and Oban all within 60 miles. Glasgow International Airport is only a 40 minute drive, Glasgow City Centre 45 minutes, and Edinburgh less than two hours. Tarbet is also well served by public transport, with a Citylink bus stop 400 yards from the doorstep, and Arrochar and Tarbet rail station only 1/2 mile away.

Tarbet has a tea room, a post office/small shop, public phones, and a Tourist Information Centre. There are larger shops and a bank at Arrochar only two miles away.

The Tarbet area offers plenty of places to eat and drink, from the local tearoom and Ben Lomond restaurant to the delightful Village Inn at Arrochar, the atmospheric Drovers Inn on the shores of Loch Lomond, and the famous original Loch Fyne Oyster Bar on the road to Inveraray. Or perhaps, just like the man who built Taobh-an-Allt two and a half centuries ago, you'd prefer simply to sit back and relax in the lounge or the garden with a glass or two of whisky, better known to him as 'uisge beatha' - the water of life.
